Abstract: Recent progresses in the studies on electrochemical and surface properties of hydrogen storage alloy materials are reviewed. This paper includes three sections: 1)Thermodynamic and kinetic studies of metal hydride electrodes, 2)Effects of micro structure and alloy elements of the materials on the electrochemical properties of the electrodes and 3)Correlation between surface properties of the alloy materials and performance of the negative electrode in the nickel metal hydride batteries.
